Many people don’t realize that Park City has just as much to offer during the spring and summer months as it does during the winter ones. While ski season may be over, that doesn’t mean we don’t have plenty of things to do in Park City during the hotter seasons. In fact, the hiking and biking in Park City is among the best in the country, and our town’s three resorts offer some amazing mountain biking, road cycling and hiking you can find in the United States.
Hiking in Park City
Park City has many great public trails that are perfect for those visitors looking to do some hiking. There are many companies that offer guided hikes in Park City, but for those who want to go-it-alone, there’s many options available for all skill levels. Some of the best include:
- Easy: Silver Lake Trail at Brighton which is an easy trail that goes on for about 1 mile. To access the trail take UT-224/Marsac Ave up to the junction with UT-152 to Brighton and you’ll see the trailhead clearly marked.
- Moderate: Silver Lake Trail at Deer Valley is a longer trail (2.5 miles) with a steep ascent, although the return trip is more moderate in difficulty. The trail takes roughly 2 to 2 ½ hours to complete and can be accessed from Silver Lake Village in Deer Valley.
Biking in Park City
Mountain biking is a popular pastime in Park City during the warmer months with bikers coming from all over the country to experience our 400+ public trails. For more casual bikers, many of the resorts offer bike rental services, and trail difficulty ranges from easy to extremely difficult. Each of the three ski areas, Deer Valley, Park City Resort and The Canyons all offer miles of good biking routes and there are also a variety of city trails within the town of Park City. We suggest:
- Bench Creek: This ride, located in Downtown Park City, is roughly 15.5 miles long and is suitable for more experienced bikers.
- Duchesne Ridge: This path is 10 miles one-way and is a nice long ride for beginner to intermediate bikers. It’s located in Park City Resort (trailhead at Wolf Creek Campground) and takes 2-3 hours to complete.
- Lower Daly: This is a beautifully wooded trail that goes past some old mining areas. It’s a single-track dirt road roughly 5 miles in length and takes about an hour to complete. It is also located at Park City Resort.
